Information about the Jamboree
Camp dates:
The jamboree will take place between July 5th-12th, 2025 in Gjøvik, Norway
Who can attend?
The camp is aimed at two groups Scouts / Guides ages 10-15 and Rovers / Rangers aged 16-25. There will be 3 camps on the same site. One for Troops, a second for Rovers, and a third for staff. The minimum age requirement to be staff is 16.
The camp(s) and program:
Troops: The jamboree camp lasts for a week and includes a broad program. Scout groups create their own camp area where they set up tents and camp kitchens. Pioneering is very popular in European scouting you will be expected to construct such things as dining tables, dishwashing benches or portals out of raj (wooden logs) and natural sisal rope. Nails are forbidden! Practice your lashing!
During the camp, you take part in a broad program of activities and new experiences, and get to know new people. During the camp, all the Scouts and Rovers go on a hike away from the camp for 24 hours, where they sleep out in the forest in small patrols. The camp opens and closes with a campfire with artists, stage entertainment and a big bonfire!
Rovers: Rovers in Norway begin at age 16. Those 16 to 25 can either attend as Rovers or on staff as an Offer of service. Camp With a high couch factor, lots of laughter, speed and fun, Rover camp is the perfect place for those aged 16-25. As a Rover, you get access to a separate camp area just for Rovers, your own Rover hut, Rover pub and Rover program. In the Rover camp, you get your own camp area where you can build portals, chairs, tables and everything that goes with it. Bring your Rover team and join in for the highlight of your summer!
As a Rover at camp, you can choose between sleeping in the troop area or in the Rover camp. Or if as a Rover you are on staff you can choose between sleeping in the Rover camp or in the staff camp.
More info about the programs coming soon!
When does registration open and close?
The preregistration for groups will open during the beginning of fall 2024. The individual registration will open later in the year. The registration will close during spring in 2025.
What does the camp cost?
The total price is unknown at this point we know the registration set by the jamboree for Guides, Scouts, and Rovers is 3500 NOK. About $438. Canadian dollars. We are not yet sure what this includes but it does not include tents, cooking equipment. We may have to bring tents and/or rent these and kitchen equipment, However in some past jamborees local groups have lent equipment to international attendees. This is not the total contingent fee – there will be costs for food, contingent swag and travel to and from Oslo to the jamboree. We hope to have a more accurate price by the end of the summer. Do I need to be part of the Canadian contingent to attend?
Canada has an official contingent. It is required that all members of Scouts Canada or L’association des Scouts du Canada be part of the official contingent to attend. The contingent will be responsible for collecting the required information from groups to register, collecting and paying the registration and other fees and for obtaining the International travel permit.
I want to be full-time staff (offer of service) during the camp! What do I do?
The jamboree organizers are putting information together for those wanting to serve as international staff is being prepared. Staff-signup is at the same time as the ordinary registration. You will need to be part of the Canadian contingent.
How do we get there?
The closest airport is Oslo Airport (OSL). It is hard to get prices for flights this far in advance but currently the flights from Montreal or Toronto to Oslo are about +or- $1300 plus checked baggage. From St John’s, Halifax, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton or Vancouver the price is in the $1450-1500 range. It gives idea of the flight costs to begin planning. From Oslo airport, you train to Oslo Central Station, and take the train from there to Gjøvik Station. It’s about a 2 hour ride north and the jamboree is arranging transportation from the station to the jamboree site.
Pre and post sightseeing.
Groups are free to organize tours either before or after the jamboree as long as they follow Scouts Canada B. P. & P. as it applies to international travel.

Zoom meetings for sharing
Contingents make it possible for groups and individuals from across Canada to combine their knowledge and experiences to make the entire experience better. Shared resources can include group discounts, combined travel, entrance fees, etc. To do this the contingent will host monthly one hour online meetings beginning in the fall.
A summary of the meetings will be posted in the Blog section of this website.
